New tea farm, new cultivar, new experiences. After a long search for a worthy red oolong, we got acquainted with a young tea farmer who's been working hard to promote innovative and sustainable farming practices in Zhushan. Officially recognized as Taiwan Agro100 Best, his fascination with the #22 沁玉 Qinyu cultivar hooked us.
We are happy to present you with Heavenly Red - TTES #22 Red Oolong. The unique characteristics of this cultivar make the tea crisp, clean, and sweet. Sugar, rose hip, and red fruit come to mind. Unlike many other red oolongs, this one doesn't have the strong malty presence and instead focuses on the brighter notes. Moreover, this tea is very hard to overbrew, which makes it a perfect choice for beginners as well.
Red Oolong is a relatively new style of tea officially recognized by the TTES in 2008. Red oolongs are more oxidized and reminiscent of black tea, yet tend to be more sweet and easy on the stomach.
This tea was made on an innovative organic farm from the Bamboo Mountain region in Taiwan. Stored and shipped from Berlin.
